If you live in a listed building you need listed building consent before you can undertake any demolition, alteration or extension work on either the inside or outside of your home. This includes fitting replacement windows. It is a criminal offence to demolish, alter or extend a listed building without consent.
You can download guidance noted and listed building consent application forms on the right handside of this page. Complete and post five copies of the completed forms to Plans Processing Unit. There are no fees for applying for listed building consent.
You may also need planning permission for the work on your home. To find out if this is required complete a development enquiry form
You can apply for a building to be listed by contacting English Heritage. The council is not responsible for the content or reliability of external websites.
