Volunteer mediators

York Mediation Service is looking to recruit to an innovative project to resolve neighbour disputes in the area.

We are looking for volunteer mediators to join our team. Are you interested? Can you help? Would you like to use your life skills and experience to help others and develop your own skills …

This is rewarding work offering huge scope for volunteers who care about helping in their community by being part of a team, who provide a free and confidential service.

No formal qualifications or specific experience needed.

How much time will it take?

Any time you can give would be most valuable from as little as 2 hours per month during the day or evening.

What training do I need?

As a mediator you will receive full initial training (4 days), ongoing training, supervision and support.

Course costs and travel expenses paid.

The initial training takes place over 4 days in January 2011 from 10am to 4pm each day. Dates are Monday 17, Friday 21, Monday 24 and Friday 28 January 2011. This training can lead to an accreditation in mediation.

How do I apply?

If you are interested and would like further information or an application please contact Carole Bunton on 01904 553838 or email carole.bunton@york.gov.uk
