Barstow House is situated within sight of the city walls, just off Nunnery Lane. It is covered by the sheltered housing with care service.
There are 32 flats on three floors. Flats on the upper floors can be reached by either lift or stairs. The lift is suitable for people who use wheelchairs. Two of the flats are two-bedroomed, and three flats on the ground floor are specially adapted for residents with disabilities. One of these also has two bedrooms.
Each flat is well equipped and has central heating, a fully fitted kitchen, a fitted bathroom with either a shower or a bath, telephone and television points, including cable chanels, and a coal effect electric fire in the lounge. There are level access showers in flats for wheelchair users.
Assisted bathrooms are provided on the ground and first floors. These are specially designed so that less mobile residents can enjoy a bath. One has a special bath with lifting equipment. When residents wish, staff can assist them with bathing.
Meals are available at a reasonable cost.
