Gale Farm Court is situated in Front Street, Acomb. It is covered by the sheltered housing with care service.
Acomb has banks, shops, a post office, library, and churches. Some of these facilities are within easy walking distance of Gale Farm Court. There is also a regular bus service into Acomb and into York city centre.
There are 18 one and two-bedroomed flats in the main building, and a further 18 flats attached to the main building. In the main building a lift and staircases provide access to all floors. All flats are centrally heated and have a telephone point and television socket. Some have balconies. Tenants of all flats have use of communal facilities.
Outside there is a pleasant enclosed garden with seating areas, and a further garden area at the rear of the building.
The building is fully covered by a fire alarm system with smoke detectors in all corridors, and each flat is fitted with a heat detector.
There is limited parking space for tenants.
A midday meal is provided on some days of the week. The warden will be able to give you more details about this, including charges for meals.
The warden will tell you of any regular social activities that take place and where to look for on-going information and notices. Some outside outings are arranged, sometimes with other sheltered housing schemes.
Tenants' meetings are held regularly. Gale Farm Court is in the area covered by Westfield Residents' Association, and all tenants are welcome to attend these meetings.
