Customer Involvement Compact

The Customer Involvement Compact 2007-2010 (Tenants Participation Agreement) was developed in partnership with tenants, staff and councillors. It sets out our overall approach to tenant participation in York.

This replaces the "Getting on Board" tenant participation agreement 2003-2006 and was launched at the York Federation Annual meeting held on 25 October 2007.

The Customer Involvement Compact 2007-2010 can be downloaded from this page.

The agreement sets out the principles based on how we will involve you in:

  • decisions made by Housing services affecting your homes and communities
  • being able to influence service improvements
  • monitoring the housing service
  • community and neighbourhood issues

The benefits of the compact are that it:

  • sets out clearly the responsibilities of the council, customer and resident associations in relation to tenant involvement
  • helps raise awareness of how you can be involved in the housing service
  • sets standards for participation and involvement, which will be regularly monitored

We are developing an action plan setting out how we will ensure that the standards set out in the compact are met.

Our commitment to tenant involvement

In 2000 a working group made up of tenant representatives, staff and a councillor, developed the first Tenant Participation Compact. This was reviewed and updated by the Tenant Compact Panel in the summer of 2003. In August 2003 the compact was relaunched and renamed 'Getting On Board' - York's Tenant Participation Agreement.

The 3rd edition was launched in October 2007 and renamed "Customer Involvement Compact" and runs until April 2010.
