Ordnance Lane, Crombie House and Howe Hill Homeless Hostels provide a range of accommodation types for both families and individuals in priority need. Occupants must be referred as statutory homeless by the council and are usually referred by a homeless caseworker at the Customer Advice Centre.
The sites contain self contained flats as well as shared facility 'hostel accommodation. Both sites have 24 hour security and a local support team who assist with each individuals specific needs.
Families and other statutory homeless people may also be placed in one of the 200 temporary flats and houses provided by both housing associations and the council specifically for homeless people in priority need. Housing associations take referrals from the council homeless team. Everyone placed in temporary accommodation as homeless by the council will benefit from a personal support worker with a full understanding of homelessness who will guide them through the re-housing process.
