Ordnance Lane, Crombie House, Holgate Road and Howe Hill are hostels providing a range of accommodation types for both families and individuals in priority need. Occupants must be referred by the council and are usually referred by a caseworker from the Housing Options Team.
The sites contain self contained flats as well as shared facility hostel accommodation. The two larger hostels, Ordnance Lane and Howe Hill, have 24 hour security and a local support team who assist with each individual's specific needs. The two smaller hostels have mobile security.
If families and individuals need temporary accommodation on a longer term basis they may be offered a flat or house provided by housing associations and the council specifically for homeless people in priority need. Housing associations take referrals from the council homeless team. Everyone placed in temporary accommodation as homeless by the council will benefit from a personal support worker with a full understanding of homelessness who will guide them through the re-housing process.
It is the responsibility of each customer to pay their rent and utilities. Help will be given to claim housing benefit where relevant.
