The new Arc Light facility has opened on Union Terrace.  It offers "state of the art" emergency accommodation for single men, women and couples without children.

This is a direct access hostel.

The building has 39 bed spaces, predominantly single en suite units, one unit with disabled facilities and a number of twin rooms. There are 4 emergency rooms which are not en suite.  In addition there are specialist meeting and counselling rooms, and associated training, education, health, fitness and community facilities.

The project was funded by central government (the Housing Corporation and the Department of Communities and Local Government). The building will be owned by The York Housing Association and Arc Light will provide the service.
