Temporary accommodation

We use a range of temporary accommodation across York. Some is owned and managed by the council, some is run by voluntary organisations, charities or the private sector. The accommodation we find you depends on your circumstances and what's available at the time.

To find the right accommodation for you look under the heading that best describes your circumstances ('child/ren' means one or more child aged under 16, or under 19 if in full time education or training. The children must live with you - not just visit).

Arc Light is situated on Union Terrace. It offers "state of the art" emergency accommodation for single men, women and couples without children. It is a direct access hostel
Melbourne Project
The Melbourne Project provides long term accommodation for people for whom problematic alcohol use is the primary problem preventing them from living successfully in independent accommodation
Ordnance Lane, Crombie House and Howe Hill
Ordnance Lane, Crombie House, Holgate Road and Howe Hill Hostels provide a range of accommodation types for both families and individuals in priority need. Customers must be referred through the Housing Options team.
Orwin House
Orwin House provides accommodation and support for people with long term alcohol problems
The Peasholme Centre
The Peasholme Centre is a supported accommodation centre for 22 people, staffed 24 hours a day. It is situated at 4 Fishergate and caters for single men and women or couples without children. It is primarily referral based. Customers must be referred by Housing Options or other professional agency
SASH (Safe and Sound Homes)
SASH (Safe and Sound Homes) is a supported lodgings scheme for young single people aged 16-25 who need somewhere to live longer term.
Southlands Road Hostel
Southlands Road Hostel provides 24 hour on site supported accommodation primarily for people aged 16 and 17 with accommodation and support needs.
YACRO
YACRO provides accommodation and support for vulnerable ex-offenders with support needs
York HA Scarcroft project
York HA Scarcroft project provides supported accommodation for 16 to 19 year olds with accommodation and support needs and have a local connection to York.
