News feeds

What are news feeds?

News feeds (also known as RSS feeds) allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest headlines without having to visit the website you have taken the feed from.

The RSS icon  RSS icon is used to indicate a news feed.

Your can subscribe to our latest news as an news feed, alternatively, follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/cityofyork

How do I start using feeds?

In order to subscribe to a news feed you need a news reader, (also known as an RSS reader, feed reader, or aggregator). There are several types of news readers available including ones you can download and that run on your computer and ones that are web-based. The following is just a sample of what is available:

NewsGator - News readers for Windows, Mac or iPhone

Google Reader - web-based news reader

Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

Firefox web browser - has an RSS feed reader
