Services for older people

To find out about getting support you need to have an initial assessment of your needs. We will talk to you about any difficulties you are having, help you decide what assistance you need and advise you of any charges.

• Community alarm services
  In any emergency, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, you can contact warden call from your home
• Community and day centres
  There are a range of day services currently available to adults with learning disabilities, older people and people with a disability
• Direct payments
  Direct payments allow customers to take more of the decisions that affect their lives. They are designed to support independent living
• Meals Service
  If you have difficulty preparing meals we can give advice about frozen meals suppliers and how to get assistance to heat and/or eat a meal
• Needs assessment by social services
  How we assess your needs to ensure you get the right care
• Older persons bus pass
  York residents aged 60 or over are entitled to a concessionary bus pass
• Protection of vulnerable adults
  All adults should be able to live free from fear or harm and have their rights and choices respected

  Personal security system that enables people to live independently in their own homes
