Equipment for people with a disability

We loan a range of equipment to disabled people and their carers to help with walking, toileting, bathing, moving and handling, home nursing, and vision and hearing difficulties.

We also provide a delivery and collection service for large items and large packages of equipment. Your assessment worker may also deliver your equipment.
Using the service

You can apply if you:

  • have a health problem or disability or
  • are a carer and live in the area covered by the council (extending into North Yorkshire area)

How to apply

You need an assessment before we can provide you with equipment. We will discuss your situation with you and your carer to try to find a solution.

Once we agree what equipment you need we arrange delivery to your home. If it is in stock you receive it within seven working days. If we need to order the equipment specially delivery may take longer.

To request an assessment please contact us. Someone else can make a request for you.

Cost

Equipment is provided free of charge.

Returning the equipment

Equipment is the property of the council or the Selby and York Primary Care Trust. If you no longer need it or you have a problem with it tel: (01904) 553058 or 553059.
