  When children are unable to live with their own families we have a duty to 'look after' them and provide accommodation for them
• Naming ceremonies
  York Register Office conducts naming ceremonies to celebrate the arrival of a new baby into your family. Ceremonies can also be used to welcome adoptive children and step-children into a new relationship.
• Out of hours social services support
  The Emergency Duty Team is the contact point for all social care and housing enquiries outside of normal office hours

• Teenage pregnancy
  The teenage pregnancy co-ordinator helps work towards a target of halving the numbers of teenage pregnancy rates by 2010
• Young carers
  Young carers are children and young people who look after someone in their family who is ill, frail, has a disability or a mental health problem
