If you are a householder bringing your own waste to the site in a trailers you will need free householder permits to access the sites. Traders are not allowed to use this site. We do not allow vans or other large vehicles onto this site.
This site is open as usual on bank holidays except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day when it will be closed.
Please note that the last entry to the site is 15 minutes before the advertised closing time.
Height barrier: There is a 1.9 metre height barrier in use at this site. Vehicles that are higher than the height barrier will not be able to gain access. Site attendants are not allowed to move the barrier for residents.
The following items can be recycled or composted at this site: Paper, glass, cans, shoes, textiles, cardboard, cartons, car oil, fluorescent tubes, electrical items, plastic bottles, wood, scrap metal, soil and turf, brick rubble and household batteries.
Cardboard boxes of all shapes and sizes can be taken to the sites to be recycled. The cardboard is made into cardboard packaging.
The garden waste containers are a great way to compost your large or excess garden waste items that are too large/much to fit in your green wheeled bin or home compost heap.
Garden waste collected in the designated containers is taken to Harewood Whin where it is composted using the Windrow process.
You can buy the compost at Hazel Court Household Waste Recycling Centre, for £2.50 per bag. Please ask a site attendant for assistance.
There are containers provided for soil and turf at the site. Please do not put brick rubble into these containers. If you are unsure please ask a site attendant for assistance.
Designated containers are provided for brick rubble. This waste is taken to Harewood Whin where it is sorted and crushed to produce fines and aggregate that can be used in landscaping and construction work.
Residents are restricted to the equivalent of 2 car boot loads of brick rubble per month that can be brought to the site, please look at the new permit scheme for details.
Old pieces of wood and timber can be placed into the wood recycling containers. If you are unsure whether something can go into the containers please ask a site attendant. Wood is taken and chipped and made back into wood boards.
There are areas at the site set aside for the disposal or recovery of scrap metal, electrical equipment, fridges, chemicals, batteries and gas cylinders. Please ask a site attendant for help finding these facilities.
Fridges and freezers from households can be recycled at all three household waste recycling centres.
