Please remember that if you opt out of receiving junk mail you may not receive important announcements and information mailings.
Here are some ways that you can reduce junk mail and minimise waste:
If you want to be removed from direct junk mailing lists, and cut down on the direct (named) junk mail you receive, contact the Mailing Preference Service:
write: Freepost 29 LON 20771, London W1E 0ZT
tel: 0845 7034599 (local rate)
More information is available on the Mailing Preference Service website.
When filling in your details on forms remember to look for the tick box to stop advertising being sent to you.
To stop unaddressed junk mail delivered by the Royal Mail, you can write to: Door to door opt outs, Royal Mail, Kingsmead House, Oxpens Road, Oxford OX1 1RX or email: optout@royalmail.com
You can also put a "no free newspapers or junk mail" sticker on your letter box to discourage additional junk mail. These are available from local libraries and the contact details on the right of this page.
Junk mail can be recycled through the Kerbside Recycling Scheme or paper recycling banks once the plastic and envelopes have been removed.
