Recycling in schools

All schools are offered chargeable recycling collections for paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and cans.  Please contact us for information about how to take part in the recycling collections.

We are also available to visit schools to talk about waste and recycling.

Please see the table below for a full list of all the materials that can be recycled in schools.  Please note that glass can also now be collected from schools upon request.

Rubbish which can be recycled Yes please! No Thanks!

Paper and cardboard

  • All white paper e.g. photocopy and printer paper, exercise books, lined paper
  • Shredded paper
  • Coloured paper
  • Magazines, comics, leaflets
  • Newspapers
  • Catalogues, brochures
  • Please remove paperclips, plastic covers etc where possible.
  • Envelopes (no windows)
  • Brown cardboard boxes (flattened)
  • Lightweight cardboard e.g. outer sleeves from packaging

Sticky tape, labels and staples aren't a problem as they will be removed in the recycling process

  • Plastic covers
  • Paper towels
  • Tracing paper
  • Laminated paper
  • Drinks cartons
  • Greetings cards
  • Polystyrene or plastic packaging
  • Cups

Plastic bottles, food tins and drink cans

  • All colours, shapes and sizes of plastic bottles
  • Cleaning bottles
  • Lids and labels can be left on plastic bottles as they will be removed in the recycling process
  • Drinks cans (empty)
  • Food tins (empty and rinsed)
  • Metal biscuit and sweet tins
  • Empty aerosols
  • Empty oil cans

  • Other plastic which is not a bottle including drinks cups, food trays, etc
  • Foil
  • Other metal

Schools who have a Refuse and Recycling Service Level Agreement with us can also recycle these items: batteries, ink cartridges, mobile phones, books, textiles, shoes, cooking oil and electrical and electronic equipment.  Please contact us for details.
