Changing Places toilets are different to standard disabled toilets. They are designed for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and their carers and other disabled people who cannot use standard accessible toilets.

Each toilet includes

• a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench 
• a tracking hoist system, or mobile hoist if this is not possible
• adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers 
• a centrally placed toilet with room either side for the carers 
• a screen or curtain to allow the disabled person and carer some privacy 
• wide tear off paper roll to cover the bench 
• a large waste bin for disposable pads 
• a non-slip floor

Changing Space Walmgate

The toilet is locked. The toilet has a key fob entry system, and a register of key fob holders is held. For access to a key fob contact your care manager or the learning disabilities team on (01904) 724172.

Open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

The changing place has a Westholme ceiling track hoist, peninsular toilet (centrally placed toilet with space either side for carers) and adjustible changing bench and tear off paper roll.

There is a kitchen with a microwave to warm food and a kettle for hot drinks (tea and coffee are not provided) and space to eat and drink.

Explore Acomb Library Learning Centre

The toilet is in the Explore: Acomb Library Learning Centre and is open during library opening hours.

The changing place has a Westholme ceiling track hoist, peninsular toilet and adjustible changing bench and tear off paper roll.

Silver Street

Silver Street, York YO1 8RY

Access to Silver Street changing place is via a key provided by the attendent. The toilet is attended 7am to 7pm
