There are many grants available for nature conservation/amenity work but there are a number that are particularly relevant.
For management and enhancement of agricultural land the Defra Environmental Stewardship Scheme is the most appropriate source of assistance. We can advise on both the Entry Level and Higher Level scheme, although, as whole farm schemes, the level of assistance that can be given may be constrained by the size of the farm and the resources available.
Visit the Environmental Stewardship section of the Defra website. The council is not responsible for the content or reliability of external websites.
For smaller schemes that only consider a small area or do not involve whole farm proposals we may able to provide a landscape grant. This grant is open to anyone in York but is discretionary and limited by the resources available. It is available both for wildlife and landscape management and enhancement work as well as proposals that will benefit access to and interpretation of the natural environment.
