Following public consultation the final draft document is being presented to planning committee on the 24 November to seek its adoption. There have been over 600 individual comments and factual corrections received from individuals and organisations.  All of these responses have been considered by the consultants and council officers. The final draft document fully reflects the results of public consultation.

Once adopted, the approved document will be permanently loaded up on the council's web site with links through to York map and other web services.

In the meantime, the final draft has been separated out into smaller documents to aid downloading.

    Part one deals with understanding the city, including a detailed assessment of 24 individual character areas within the larger conservation area and an analysis of key views and building heights.
  • Part Two: Management Strategy
    The Management strategy includes proposals to change the conservation area boundary and to introduce greater controls in some streets where the character is particularly vulnerable to unsympathetic change.
