Pubs, clubs and licensed premises

pub

Every pub, club or licensed premises, including takeaways and restaurants, will have a licence that says how their business should be run without causing a nuisance to neighbours. Information on the licence can be obtained by contacting the licensing unit on (01904) 552512 or email licensing.unit@york.gov.uk

The environmental protection unit (EPU) can also give advice, investigate any complaints and take legal action, if necessary, due to any noise from the premises, including loud music, singing, shouting and customers talking loudly in beer gardens.

Please contact EPU for further information or to report a noise nuisance.

New guidance leaflet for pubs, small licensed venues and clubs

EPU has recently produced a new guidance leaflet on controlling noise from pubs, small licensed venues and clubs to help those running such venues prevent noise complaints. The guidance leaflet is available to download to the right of the page.  For further information or a hard copy of the leaflet please contact us.
