Low frequency noise
A low frequency noise is very often characterised by a hum or rumble. It may be confused with tinnitus (ringing/hissing in the ears with no obvious cause).
Although low frequency noise, sometimes including a humming noise, is often irritating, it is difficult to prove it is a statutory noise nuisance according to the law, as it is usually of a low volume.
