DIY

DIY

Every year most people will undertake some form of DIY to repair or improve their home. People may not always be able to carry out DIY during the day, due to work commitments, so may work during evenings or weekends.

If you want to do DIY and not annoy your neighbours, limit DIY to reasonable times and restrict the amount of work that you do. Please consider the following:

  • What type of activity are you going to do?
  • Is the activity likely to be noisy?
  • How long will it last?
  • When do you want to carry out the activity?
  • Could it cause a disturbance to neighbours?

If your DIY could disturb your neighbours you should do your best to restrict work to 8am-6pm on weekdays and 9am-1pm on Saturdays. Try not to do noisy work on Sundays.

If you like to listen to music whilst doing DIY keep the volume down, especially if you are outside.

If you cause a noise nuisance we may take legal action against you, which can include us taking your DIY tools.

Please contact EPU for further information or to report a noise nuisance.
