As well as existing planning guidance approved by the council three new Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) are being prepared. The purpose of an SPD is to expand upon policy or provide further detail to policies in Development Plan Documents such as the Local Plan or Core Strategy. SPDs do not have development plan status, but once adopted they are afforded significant weight as a material planning consideration in the determination of planning applications.

Consultation on the SPDs below was undertaken from Monday 23 January 2012 to Monday 5 March 2012.

In addition to the SPDs below, a further SPD for the Former British Sugar/Manor School site is also underway.

All of the SPDs will remain draft until such a time as the Core Strategy has been through examination and is formally adopted by the Council.
