Local Development Scheme

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out the planning documents that the council will prepare as part of the Local Development Framework (LDF). It provides a description of each of the documents, as well as the timetable for producing them.

Summary of the key timescales for the Local Development Framework:

Core Strategy

  • Submission - 14 February 2012

Subject to confirmation from the Secretary of State:

  • Examination - April 2012
  • Adoption - August 2012

Allocations Development Plan Document

  • Preferred Options consultation - May-June 2012
  • Pre-submission consultation - January - February 2013
  • Submission - June 2013
  • Examination - September 2013
  • Adoption - December 2013

City Centre Area Action Plan

  • Preferred Options consultation - May-June 2012 
  • Pre-submission consultation- January - February 2013 
  • Submission - June 2013 
  • Examination - September 2013 
  • Adoption -  December 2013

York Northwest Area Action Plan

Following a decision by the Executive on 30 March, the York Northwest sites will now be taken forward as two strategic allocations (within a York Northwest Corridor) in the Core Strategy. These sites will be supported by Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD), rather than through the production of a York Northwest Area Action Plan.

  • Adopt SPD for British Sugar - following the adoption of the Core Strategy 
  • Prepare draft SPD for York Central - Ongoing 
  • Adopt SPD for York Central - following the adoption of the Core Strategy

Further Information

The first Local Development Scheme was published in 2005, this was updated by the Council and approved by the Secretary of State in 2007 and in 2008.
