The Allocations DPD is a key element of the Local Development Framework
(LDF). It will identify appropriate development sites to deliver the
objectives of the Core Strategy. These will be for a range of uses
including housing, employment and retail, as well as considering provision
for other uses such as open space and community facilities. The
Allocations DPD will also determine the precise boundary of the green belt
and define the settlement boundaries for the main urban area of York and
the surrounding villages. In addition, it will identify suitable land for
future transport requirements such as park and ride facilities and highway
and cycleway improvements as well as land for potential waste and minerals
workings.

Allocations DPD Issues and Options (Main
Document)
The main document provides the context for the call for sites by
outlining the range of uses which will be included in the Allocations
DPD. It also provides background information on the emerging
evidence base and other guidance on site selection. In addition, the
document lists potential sites which the Council already knows
about.

Next Steps
Following the Issues and Options consultation, the Council will assess all
the sites against a range of criteria as well as seeing whether they fit
with the long term planning and vision for the city as set out in the LDF
Core Strategy. The 'preferred sites' will be carried forward to the next
stage of the process, which we will consult on later this year.
