Local development framework

In this section:

• Core Strategy
  The Core Strategy sets out a planning vision for York, describing what sort of city it could be in the future.
• Allocations development plan document
  This document will identify future development sites for a variety of uses such as housing, employment and retail, as well as considering provision for other uses including open space and community facilities.
• Former British Sugar/Manor School
  The Former British Sugar and Manor School sites are part of the York Northwest regeneration corridor. A Supplementary Planning Document, which is currently being revised will provide the framework to be used in the determination of any planning applications on the site.
• City Centre Area Action Plan
  A City Centre Area Action Plan is being produced for York. Once adopted the plan will form the framework for development in the City Centre for the next 20 years to protect its special qualities but also identify area based proposals to stimulate enhancement where is it needed.
• Habitats Regulation Assessment
  European Legislation states that a Habitat Regulation Assessment should be undertaken for all major plans and projects which could potentially effect statutory Nature Conservation sites. All the HRAs in connection with the LDF are detailed here.
• LDF Evidence Base documents
  A range of information and documents that support the Local Development Framework
• Local development scheme
  The Local Development Scheme (LDS) is a three year project plan for producing the new planning policy framework.
• Annual Monitoring Reports (AMR)
  The AMR is produced annually to report on core output indicators, which directly monitor the outcomes of planning policy. The are a number of different Indicators, including several for housing and employment land
• Statement of community involvement
  The Statement of Community Involvement sets out how and when you can get involved in planning decisions in your area
• Supplementary planning documents
  As well as existing planning guidance approved by the council three new Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) are being prepared
• Sustainability Appraisal
  The Sustainability Appraisal process is a way of ensuring that all plans and programmes which relate to land use issues are compatible with the aims of sustainable development.
• York Central
  York Central is a major brownfield regeneration site within the York Northwest area. The site is located to the rear of York Rail Station and includes the National Railway Museum and properties on Leeman Road.
• York Northwest Corridor
  York Northwest is a major area for regeneration within the York urban area and includes the strategic development sites: York Central and the former British Sugar/Manor School.
