York Northwest is a major area for regeneration within the York Urban area and includes two large brownfield development sites, York Central and British Sugar. As part of the Local Development Framework the Council is preparing an Area Action Plan for the York Northwest area. This will provide the planning framework to guide the regeneration of the area. It will ensure the development of the area is considered in a comprehensive way and will give specific guidance on type, location and quantity of development to contribute to the needs of the City.
