The new conservation area in York, was designated in December 2007. The site lies roughly 1.5 km north of York city centre between Haxby Road and Wigginton.
A Character Appraisal is a document that describes in detail why an area is special enough to be a conservation area and identifies parts that should be conserved and those that are capable of change.
This appraisal has was produced to examine the potential for designating a new conservation area considering the history and social value of the area and to inform the upcoming redevelopment.
