Allocations development plan document (DPD)

The Allocations DPD is a key element of the Local Development Framework (LDF). It will identify appropriate development sites to deliver the objectives of the Core Strategy. These will be for a range of uses including housing, employment and retail, as well as considering provision for other uses such as open space and community facilities. The Allocations DPD will also determine the precise boundary of the green belt and define the settlement boundaries for the main urban area of York and the surrounding villages. In addition, it will identify suitable land for future transport requirements such as park and ride facilities and highway and cycleway improvements as well as land for potential waste and minerals workings.

Next Steps

Following the Issues and Options consultation, the Council will assess all the sites against a range of criteria as well as seeing whether they fit with the long term planning and vision for the city as set out in the LDF Core Strategy. The 'preferred sites' will be carried forward to the next stage of the process, which we will consult on later this year.
