Commenting on a planning application

You may comment or object on a current planning application even if you have not been consulted. If you would like to do so, use any one of the methods listed below:

  • in writing, by letter or email, addressed to the relevant planning officer.
  • comment online by selecting the application in public access.

In order for your comments or objections to be registered, and for us to be able to send you further correspondence relating to the application, you must include:

  • your name
  • your contact address
  • the reference number of the application (if known)
  • or the address of the property to which your comments relate to
  • your comments and or objections

We will publish responses to this consultation on the website, removing certain personal information (namely your telephone number, email address and signature) contained within. However your name and address may still appear with your comments, which will be viewable until the application has been decided.

By sending your comments you confirm that you agree to this and that you accept legal responsibility for your comments.

Also your comments will be placed on the planning application file, which is available for inspection on request.

If you comment online via the website system, we will automatically acknowledge your comments. If your comments are received by email or by post, we will not acknowledge them but they should appear online within 5 working days of receipt. In any event, if you comment, we will let you know of the decision, once it is made. Please bear in mind that because of the volume of comments received on planning applications, it is not possible to respond in writing to individual points or queries raised in letters.
