York's rivers, lakes and ponds offer excellent fishing opportunities.  Fishing is free on the River Ouse and Foss in the city centre and also at Chapmans Pond in Dringhouses.  Elsewhere in the city, York and District Amalgamation of Anglers manage several waters, and there are a number of other club waters and private fisheries.
