Rawcliffe Country Park has been awarded a Green Flag Award each year since 2009. Sites with Green Flag Awards are considered to be the best in the country.

Some 2000 trees and 1,500 woodland shrubs were planted during the establishment of the Country Park. Developing woodland includes willow, birch and pine with oak and ash. Hawthorn, blackthorn and dog rose thickets give nesting cover and food for an increasing range of birds. The country park office is the focus for activity days and special events and can be booked for use by school parties. Contact City of York Council, Parks and Open Spaces on 01904 553392.
This new installation in the park is open for use by the public all day, every day and is free of charge. It is 3m high with more than 60 square metres of climbing features. The climbing boulder is suitable for children aged 3 years of age to adults and no experience or equipment is required. It can be enjoyed by novices and more experienced climbers as it has numerous routes up and across the rock face.

Work has now finished on a new bike track at Rawcliffe Country Park and is open for use. The scheme includes a series of exciting and challenging jumps, banks and turns that will be fun for all levels of off-road bike enthusiasts. There are roughly two circular tracks; a 70 metre inner track and an easier140 metre outer track. Linking paths allow movement between the two routes and the rest of the area. The scheme is part of the Lottery-Play programme that also funding the climbing boulders, situated within the play area at Rawcliffe Country Park. The track opened on the 17 February as part of the Shine and big pedal activities.
Park and Ride buses to Rawcliffe Bar leave from Museum Street, outside the entrance of the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens, and run frequently throughout the day.
National Cycle Route 65 runs past Rawcliffe Bar Country Park through to the city centre.
