Some of the city's outstanding allotments were highlighted in York's Allotment Awards, announced on 10 August 2011. Winners of the area awards were:
- West Area - Mr Tony Ryall of Carr allotments
- East Area - Mr David Gash of Bootham Stray allotments
- West Area New Tenant (joint) - Mrs Teresa Pearson & Ms Michelle Cradock of Green Lane allotments
- East Area New Tenant - Mrs Celina & Mr Leslie Gee of Glen allotments
