Building Control is the enforcement of the 2000 Building Regulations. This ensures the buildings where we live, work and visit are safe structures.

It is a legal requirement to submit an application if the work you propose is classed as building work.

Changes to Full Plans submissions

To cut down on postage costs, from the 8 April 2011 we will only require Full Plans applications to be accompanied by:

• One copy of the proposed plans (domestic applications) and
• Two copies of the proposed plans (commercial applications)

Upon approval/rejection, the requisite Notice will be sent to you, along with a schedule detailing the plans that are referred to. It would help therefore, if you could add a unique plan reference number/identifier to your drawings if you do not already do so.

For smaller domestic schemes applications can be submitted electronically, and it is our longer term goal to be able to receive all applications in this manner within the next 12 months.
