To report any other dog matter, missing dogs, noisy dogs or attacks by dogs, phone (01904) 551530 (8.30am to 5pm, office hours are Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays).  If the dog warden is unavailable please leave a message on the answer machine.  We aim to respond to all calls within three working days.

What the dog warden does

We aim to:

  • promote responsible dog ownership and enforce law relating to dogs
  • ensure the effective control of problems associated with dogs
  • work with residents and dog owners to combat dog nuisance problems

We are happy to give advice about caring for dogs. We visit local schools and other groups to give information and advice about our work and animal welfare.

We deal with dog fouling and stray and missing dogs. We also deal with:

  • Noisy dogs - Ring the dog warden hotline for advice about how deal with noisy dog problems.
  • Dog attacks - Ring the dog warden hotline if you have been attacked by a dog. Dog owners are required by law to keep their dogs under proper control. If they do not we can apply to the Magistrates court for an order requiring them to keep their dogs under proper control.
  • Dog neglect and cruelty - If you see a dog being neglected or treated cruelly ring the dog warden hotline. We need to know where dog is, what cruelty it is suffering and who the owners are (if known).
