York Parent Partnership Service is part of the LA's special educational needs (SEN) services.

We provide impartial support, advice and information for parents and carers of children with special educational needs.

Our service is free and can be provided over the telephone, at home visits or through support at school meetings.

York Parent Partnership Service:

• promotes the active involvement of parents and carers in all decisions about their child's education, in mainstream or special school
• encourages partnership and dialogue between parents, schools, LA, health and voluntary bodies
• helps resolve disagreements between parents and schools or the LA
• puts families in touch with support groups, the local Parent Forum (CANDI) and other voluntary organisations 
• helps parents to access the independent SEN Mediation Service and advises on the procedure for appeals to the SEN and Disability Tribunal
• produces newsletters and information leaflets
