Physical disability and medical needs

• What we do
  The Physical Disability and Medical Needs Team provides specialist support for children with physical disabilities and medical needs.
• Referrals
  We take referrals from schools, early years settings, parents and other agencies such as health and social services.
• Medical needs
  Some children need long term medical treatment, for example if they have epilepsy or diabetes.
• Hospital and home tuition
  The Hospital and Home Tuition Service aims to minimise as far as possible the disruption to normal schooling for children whose education is affected by health needs.
• Improving access to the school environment
  We are often asked to check that a child can move around school safely
• How much support can we offer?
  The level of our involvement varies considerably according to the child’s needs
• Disability discrimination act
  The Special Educational Needs and Discrimination Act 2001 has made our work easier
