Terms and conditions upon which music instrument and vocal lessons are made
available. Please keep for reference.
Lessons
- lessons continue from one year to the next unless Arts and
Culture are informed
- 30 lessons will be provided throughout the school year i.e. September
to July. The full school year is 39 weeks in total
- new pupils starting lessons midway through a term will be charged
accordingly
- some physical contact with pupils may be required to correct stance
and fingering
Payments
- all parents/carers will be billed during each Autumn, Spring and Summer
terms
- methods of payment are cheque (made payable to the City of York
Council), Switch payment by telephone (01904 554660) and cash at
Mill House reception
- if the child is absent from a lesson without permission, a charge will
still be made
Pupils' responsibilities
- attend all instrumental lessons
- practice regularly as advised by their instrumental teacher using the
practice book provided
- clean and maintain their instruments
Parents' responsibilities
- support home practice and sign the practice book
- ensure their child's attendance at instrumental lessons unless for good
reason
- notify us of any known absences
- be aware they are responsible for the care and maintenance of
instruments on loan
To stop the lessons
- written notice is required before the end of July, if lessons are not
to continue in the new academic year
- a minimum of 6 weeks notice, in writing, is required if lessons
are to stop during the school year. Pupils may continue with attendance
during the notice period
- written notice should be sent to Arts and Culture
Refunds
Refunds are may be paid only in the following circumstances:
- where, due to the absence or unavailability of the teacher, 30 lessons
have not been offered throughout the whole school year
- pupils have finished before the end of term and the required notice has
been given
- where parents have given notification of long term absence i.e. more
than 3 consecutive lessons.
