Music education has been proven to not only give young people a lifelong love of music, but to improve whole child development in a number of important ways. It has been shown to improve behaviour, literacy, numeracy and enhance overall attainment, helping children grow into responsible and aware citizens of the future.
We now hold a list of instrumental tutors who are approved to work in City of York schools and details of these can be downloaded from this page.
Parents and schools can be assured that the tutors on the list will have had regular professional training in music teaching and safeguarding and child protection issues. They will have been CRB checked by City of York Council and monitored annually to ensure the quality of the tuition provided. Should a tutor not meet these requirements they will be removed from the list and schools notified.
York Arts Education also provides a Bursary Scheme to help with instrumental lessons taken with City of York Council Approved Tutors and more information is available to download from this page.
