Besides developing musical skills, playing an instrument and singing in a group helps instil commitment, confidence and teamwork. It's also fun and gives your child the chance to meet new friends.
The Arts Service provides tuition in woodwind, strings, brass, percussion, guitar (classical, electric and bass), voice and keyboard.
Lessons are delivered in small groups or individually on a weekly basis during school time. Tuition in secondary schools is provided on a rota basis, to minimise disruption to the pupil's timetable.
Lessons are given by a team of dedicated, well qualified and professional
tutors. The tutors provide annual reports based on their assessment of the
pupil's progress. Parents can discuss their child's progress at an annual
parent's evening.
Pupils may be encouraged to take music examinations through the Associated
Board, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Rock School. An
examination fee is charged.
We offer at least 30 lessons per year (20-30 minutes). Fees for academic year 2007/2008 (per term):
