York Arts Education

York Arts Education provides creative, educational experiences covering creative arts, dance, drama and music for all children and adults in York.

We are increasingly working with adults, professional artists, arts organisations and local communities to deliver arts events across the city.

We provide curriculum support to schools staff, training opportunities across the arts, programmes of cross arts / cross school projects with professional arts organisations.

We aim to support educational, community and professional art and entertainment provision in York by:

  • providing arts and creative opportunities for children, adults, professional artists and arts organisations, through projects, events, festivals, funding and advice
  • working in schools to provide instrument and singing lessons and support for ensembles
  • providing opportunities in all the performing arts at York Arts Academies.
    providing curriculum support and training opportunities to school staff
  • working with other organisations to develop an events programme and community arts work
  • promoting York’s cultural businesses and improving the city’s environment for arts activities
  • improving access, both physical and social, to the arts

A termly newsletter is produced by York Arts Education giving details of their  current and planned projects and activities. You can download the Autumn 2006 and Spring 2007 copy from the right of this page.
