Artists in schools

The Artists in Schools database aims to encourage teachers to use artists in their schools, either on a project basis or in support of an area of the curriculum. The database holds information on artists in all forms: dance, drama, music and visual art.

What we offer artists

We act as a central contact point for schools to use when looking for visual artists, musicians, dancers and actors/theatre companies.

Whilst there is no guarantee that this will result in work, it will guarantee a greater awareness of the work you do.

All artists who register on the database are required to have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau clearance. The application for a CRB clearance can be made through the Arts Service. There is a charge for this service.

What we offer schools

We can offer:

  • information about visual artists, musicians, dancers, actors / theatre companies who offer workshops and projects within schools
  • information on artists who offer resource packs, teacher training and curriculum development
  • specific detail of the type of work the artist offers, their experience with particular age groups and their qualifications and training in the arts
  • all artists who register on the database are required to have an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau clearance. It is the responsibility of the school to check the CRB clearance of any artist working in their school.

Costs

Registration on the database if free and is open to all visual artists, dancers, musicians, actors / theatre companies.

There is no charge for schools to use the database
