If you attend your local 'catchment' school and live more than 3 miles from your school (2 miles for primary aged children) you may be entitled to help with your home to school transport.

All distances are measured by the shortest safe walking route, and if there is not a safe walking route transport assistance will be available.

Families on low-incomes

If you are entitled to free school meals or if the family is on a low income, then assistance may be provided if you attend one of the three nearest secondary schools and you live between 2 and 6 miles from the school.

Low income assistance will be reviewed every year. You will need to supply a copy of your latest tax credit notice (TC602) before transport can be renewed.

Faith Schools

If you attend your nearest 'denominational' school because of your religion or beliefs then assistance will be provided if you live over 3 miles from the school (2 miles for primary aged children).

If you are on a low income as above, and attend your nearest denominational school because of your religion or beliefs, then assistance will be provided where the school is between 2 miles and 15 miles from your home.

Special educational needs pupils

Students will get extra help if their special needs require transport to be able to attend school. For more details on transport for students with special needs contact the SEN service.

Exceptional circumstances

In very exceptional circumstances we may offer help with transport on a short-term basis. This would only be where there were exceptional personal, medical or social circumstances.

Spare places

If you are not eligible for help with home to school transport, and there are spare places available on our services, we will makes these places available. However, these places incur a concessionary fee, which is subject to change each year.
