York High School is offering opportunities for local and city wide groups to hire rooms and facilities. YHS has a range of facilities available including recording studio, ICT suite, dance studio, hall and classrooms. All areas of the building are accessible to persons in a wheelchair or with mobility with two passenger lifts. There are over 200 free parking spaces including 15 disabled bays

Classrooms

There are over 20 different classrooms of varying size at York High School. All have ceiling mounted projectors and a number have interactive whiteboards or Smartboards. Seating capacity ranges from 24 - 26 people depending on the room.

Atrium

Main school atrium

This 2 storey open plan area includes the main library on the ground floor with connecting classrooms and banks of computers on the concourse area over looking the library. Approximately 60 computers are available here.

Main Dining Room

with seating for 150 people - Hot and/or cold food can be provided by prior arrangement

Art Rooms

2 art rooms, 1 of which includes 2 kilns for pottery work

Technology Workshops

3 workshops are available for a variety of woodworking or metal work

Food Technology

There are two food technology rooms with views on to the main atrium.Each room has fridges, storage space, is fully equipped with pots and pans, and cutlery etc, and have 9 hobs/ovens on a mixture of gas and electric.

Textiles Room

We have one Textiles room which has 10 Brother sewing machines and is complete with a ceiling mounted projector.

Science Labortories

There are 7 science laboratories in total which will seat approximately 24 people in each. Labs 6 & 7 have a folding acoustic partition wall which when opened creates a large lecture space for up to 48 people.

Performing Arts Room

The Performing Arts area has a range of high quality facilities; 4 individual practice rooms, a large keyboard room linked to PCs, a recording studio and a performance studio with a wooden sprung floor and sound and lighting equipment

Hall

Large flexible space that can be hired for meetings, performances, courses and other classes. The room has the latest sound and lighting technology, an interactive lectern for public speaking and presentations, a ceiling mounted projector and will seat approximately 250 people.
