Children and employment

There are various restrictions to the type of work children can do. Children may not work in places where gambling takes place, where alcohol is consumed or in an environment that may be dangerous to them.

Children between 13 and 16 need a work permit if they are in paid employment. Children under 16 who are involved with acting, modelling etc. require a child performance licence.

Children in full time compulsory education must have permits even when they reach 16 until the official school leaving date. This is the last Friday in June.
