The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Get involved if you are aged 14 - 25 and enjoy practical, cultural and adventurous activities. Groups meet in various venues around the city.  tel:(01904) 552350 or visit the Duke of Edinburgh's Award website 

The Zoo Skatepark

A friendly, supervised environment for boarders, bmxers and bladers of all abilities. Special beginners sessions on Saturday mornings. Located at Fossbank. Open six days a week for various sessions.

All under 16s must wear helmets.

Session times:

  • Mondays 4.00-6.30 Boarders and Bladers only
  • Mondays 6.30-9.00 BMX Advanced
  • Tuesdays 5.30-7.00 BMX Beginner
  • Wednesdays 6.00-8.30 Boarders Only
  • Thursdays 4.00-6.30 Open Skate (Boarders, Bladers, Scooters)
  • Thursdays 6.30-9.00 Bladers Only
  • Fridays 5.30-7.30 17+ only
  • Saturdays 10.00am-12noon Absolute Beginners  Boarders (aged 8+)
  • Saturdays 12noon-2.00 Open Skate (Boarders, Bladers, Scooters)
  • Saturdays 2.00-4.00 Boarders only

Momentum on 2 wheels

If you are interested in motorbikes get involved with this 30 hour programme that covers: attitudes and responsibilities of being a bike user; handling skills off road and basic maintenance skills. Based in New Earswick at the Sleeper Path Project, Station Avenue, New Earswick.

LGB Youth Project

This project provides support if you are under 25 and identify with lesbian, gay, or bisexual orientation, or are undecided about your sexuality. Workers provide individual support. There is also group that meets weekly and has covered issues such as personal health, safety and drugs awareness as well as organising social activities.
