Talkabout citizens' panel

Talkabout - York's Citizens' Panel has been inviting residents to give their views since 1996.

Panellists are randomly selected from the electoral register. Its 2,300 York residents are broadly representative of the city's population in terms of age, gender, social group and geographical area. Panellists can stay on the panel for a maximum of three years.

If you have been invited to join the panel

You'll have received a letter inviting you to join and if you're interested you need to complete the accompanying questionnaire.
We'll then send you up to two questionnaires a year, asking you to give your views on:

  • life in York;
  • your local area;
  • problems you face;
  • things you want improved.

Past questionnaires, discussion groups and feedback

talkabout questionnaires

Recent questionnaires have asked residents to give their views on using leisure centres, crime and public safety, the Local Transport Plan (LTP), York's pedestrianised area and seeking advice to prevent homelessness. Download our most recent questionnaire on the right hand side of this page.

Discussion groups

Residents who are interested in doing so are occasionally invited to attend discussion groups with around ten other talkabout panellists. Recently, panellists have given their views on a wide range of issues, including the future challenges facing older people's social care and the City Centre Area Action Plan.

talkabout newsletters

Every talkabout panellist receives regular newsletters, informing them of the results of the questionnaires and workshops. Download our most recent newsletter on the right hand side of this page.
