Neighbourhood Action Plans

The Neighbourhood Action Plan for each ward has three or four ambitions which come under various headings. Common themes are:

  • Cleaner, greener communities
  • more inclusive communities
  • road safety and improvements
  • safety and crime reduction.

These ambition statements for each ward committee were devised after consultation with residents to focus on local needs and concerns.

The Neighbourhood Action plan cycle

July - Your Ward published including a form to ask for ideas for schemes from residents. A reminder about the call for schemes may happen at the ward committee meeting.

October - The ward team and councillors publish a short list in Your Ward for residents to vote on. The ward committee meeting may include discussion of the short-listed suggestions.

January/February - The councillors publish the list of approved schemes in Your Ward. The Decision is announced at the ward committee meeting.

April - Schemes are commissioned. There may be an update on the previous year's budget at the ward committee meeting.

Ward Committee Budgets

Each Ward Committee has a budget from which grants can be given to not-for-profit groups who meet certain criteria. Ward Committee funding is intended to help local communities improve the places residents live in. Grants can be applied for by organisations who are active locally and who can show that the grant will be used either to:

  • improve the physical environment , or
  • provide local services that will make a difference.
