Postal voting

Your right to vote by post

Applying for a postal vote could not be easier

1. The law now allows anyone included in a Register of Electors to apply for a postal vote without the need to give any reason or to have the application countersigned.

2. If you would simply prefer to vote by post instead of going to a polling station use the application form below.

3. Postal votes can be sent anywhere, either inside or outside of the United Kingdom (if, for example, you are on holiday). Remember, that if the address is outside of the United Kingdom, it will take a longer time to reach you and for you to return it in order for your vote to be counted. We are not responsible or liable for delays caused by postal services inside or outside of the UK.

4. If you move house you must tell the Electoral Registration Officer immediately, or you may lose your postal vote.

5. The law now requires that we need a specimen of your signature and date of birth; this is a security check at election time to ensure your postal vote is valid

6. You are strongly advised to complete and send in your application early. The closing date for postal applications is 18th April 2007, to ensure it is effective to vote by post for the council elections held on 3rd May 2007.

When completing the application form, please ensure that your signature and date of birth are with the border of the boxes. If you have difficulty printing the form, please contact us.
