From 10 September, if you call the council on 551550 you will hear a new message with the following two options:

1. Press one if you know the name or extension number of the person you want to speak to. 
2. Press two to make an automated payment.  Otherwise, please hold to be connected to a Customer Service Representative.

All calls transferred to a Customer Service Representative will come into the York Customer Centre to a team of dedicated and trained staff who can deal with the following enquiries:

• planning and building control
• council tax
• environmental services (pest control, removal of bulky items, flytipping etc)
• general council enquiries
