Working with victims

York YOT provides a service to help offenders try to make amends with their victims.

We recognise that offenders can never ‘put things right’ fully but there are many ways in which restorative justice can help.

For example:

  • Explanation
  • Apology
  • Reparation

In this section:

  • Restorative Justice
    Restorative Justice provides the opportunity for those directly affected by an offence - victim, offender, community members - to communicate and agree how to deal with the offence and its consequences
  • Reparation
    Reparation is a practical way to pay back for the harm caused by an offence, either by directly repairing the harm, or through constructive work to help the local community
