When a young person has to appear in court, York YOT will attend court, write reports and supervise bail where required.
In York, most hearings for young people take place on a Tuesday. Young people may have to appear in court on almost any day of the year, even on bank holidays. Whatever the day, somebody from York YOT will be there to support and assist.
York YOT support and assist young people and their families, and the court with information, assessments and advice so that the court can deal with young people in a quick, simple way.
Depending on a number of factors, young people may be dealt with by the Youth or Crown Court. Crown Courts deal with more serious criminal offences.
