Feeling and being safe in York
We are working with partners such as Safer York Partnership, North Yorkshire
Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to deliver a three
month campaign entitled 'Feeling and Being Safe in York'.
The campaign will tackle issues of personal safety, property safety and fear of
crime, as well as enforcement activity. One of the aims is to raise
awareness of the simple steps that the public can take to improve their
personal safety.
Currently a number of activities are planned. These include cycle tagging
at ward committees in July; personal and property safety giveaways at ward
committee meetings; underage sales of alcohol enforcement; raising awareness of
the public to the community rangers who patrol a number of wards in the city;
child car seat checking by the Fire and Rescue Service; Community Idol
competition; football coaching; police and other agency action days; and open
days at a number of fire stations in the city.
